Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Henry Ngo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Burgess's choice of entrance music: travis barker push em. Anthony Burgess has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Ngo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Burgess!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngo shoots in but no luck this time.
Ngo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ngo looks for a takedown but Burgess sprawls well.
Burgess rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ngo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ngo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Burgess manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Burgess thuds his shin into the meat of Ngo's side.
Burgess misses with a wild combination.
Ngo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Ngo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ngo has his takedown stuffed
and Burgess counters with a nice uppercut.
Burgess keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Burgess lands with an uppercut that bounces Ngo off the cage and back into range.

Burgess is pressed up against the cage. Ngo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Burgess down to the mat. Burgess avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Burgess throws a series of punches but Ngo avoids them all with ease.

Burgess connects with a single shot there.
Anthony Burgess is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ngo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Burgess tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ngo is in Burgess's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ngo wants to control from the top but Burgess keeps moving.
Ngo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Burgess is proving hard to escape from.

Burgess manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Burgess breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ngo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Burgess avoids it really well and circles away.
Burgess tries to clinch but Ngo moves out of range.
Ngo misses with a few strikes there.
Ngo tries for a takedown but Burgess sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Henry Ngo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ngo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ngo shoots in for a takedown but Burgess shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Sloppy strikes from Burgess. Those never looked like landing.

Ngo tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Burgess will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ngo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Burgess pinned against the cage. Burgess gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ngo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burgess paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Burgess tries to bum rush Ngo with a series of wild strikes but Ngo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ngo shoots in for a double leg but Burgess sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ngo dodges the punch combination from Burgess.
Burgess feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ngos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Burgess displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ngo.
Ngo shoots for a takedown but Burgess saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Burgess throws a one two combo.
Burgess scores with a body shot.
Burgess throws a right hand that Ngo ducks under and follows up with a left that Ngo also avoids with ease.
Ngo misses with a wild combination.
Burgess fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Burgess.
Burgess swats away the attempt to clinch by Ngo.
Burgess throws a half hearted mid kick.
Ngo shoots in and drives through. Burgess sprawls well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ngo shoots in for a takedown but Burgess shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A right-left combo lands from Burgess.
Burgess pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ngo back to the cage. Burgess follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Burgess tries to bum rush Ngo with a series of wild strikes but Ngo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Burgess dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horrible takedown attempt by Ngo or perhaps it was just good defense by Burgess, which made it look bad.
Burgess thuds his right hand into Ngo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Anthony Burgess seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ngo throws a body punch but Burgess moves out of range.
Burgess throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ngo fails with a takedown attempt.
Burgess clobbers Ngo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ngo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Burgess defends well and Ngo ends up having to push Burgess into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Burgess is trying to stall.

Ngo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Burgess clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Burgess tries to roll but Ngo sticks to his back.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Ngo.
Burgess trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Burgess is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Ngo off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

I really don't envy Burgess right now.
Burgess is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Ngo goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Burgess escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Burgess wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ngo keeps working.
Ngo is looking to control Burgess's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ngo avoid being mounted?
Henry Ngo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Burgess wants to pass the guard but Ngo is defending well.

Burgess is working for a submission of some sort.

Burgess wants to work for an arm triangle but Ngo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Burgess looks to land a strike but Ngo avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ngo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Burgess throwing strikes but missing.
Burgess won't allow Ngo to sweep him here.

Ngo has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.
Burgess is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Burgess is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ngo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ngo has escaped and now he's on top!
Burgess manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ngo manages to get himself to full guard.

Ngo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burgess postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ngo looking for a guillotine here but Burgess defends easily.
Burgess is in close to Ngo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Ngo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ngo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ngo working for a triangle but Burgess defends it easily.

Ngo pushes a forearm under Burgess's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Burgess is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
