Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod Boone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hernando Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rod Boone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hernando Torres!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Boone.
Torres is looking to chop away at Boone's legs.
Torres tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Torres somewhat.

Boone closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Torres to the mat! Torres manages to get full guard.
Boone is looking to stand up but Torres won't let him.

Boone distracts Torres with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Boone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Torres is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boone is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boone makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Boone stands up and waves to Torres to follow him.

Boone drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boone throws an elbow but Torres slips to the side and avoids it well.
Torres is trying to get back to half guard.

Boone wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Torres, who protects the arm well.

Boone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Torres keeps working.
Torres tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Boone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Boone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boone has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Torres wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Boone uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Torres doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Boone counters by clinching up.

Torres pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Torres shoots in for a double leg but Boone sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Boone could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Torres throws a right hand that Boone ducks under and follows up with a left that Boone also avoids with ease.

Torres is breathing heavily.
Boone looks to land a left hand but Torres moved out of range nicely.

Boone shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Torres is trying to defend but Boone finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Boone decides to stand and escape the position.
Boone tries to clinch but Torres moves out of range.
Boone dives in and grabs Torres's left leg, looking for a takedown. Torres pushes down on Boone's head and hops out.
Torres shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boone as he jumps to the side.

Boone gets to his feet - Torres follows without any prompting.
Boone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Torres as he avoids it easily.

Boone closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Torres quickly recovers to half guard.
