PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josef Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josef Rocha has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Josef Rocha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexandre Silva!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rocha's waist but Rocha gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Rocha shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rocha feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Silva's calf.
Rocha motions for Silva to come forward. Rocha throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Silva closes the distance and clinches.
A shot in the inside from Silva.

Silva manages to break the clinch.
Alexandre Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rocha paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Silva moves in looking to clinch but Rocha pushes him off.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rocha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rocha might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rocha swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rocha looking for a guillotine here but Silva defends easily.

Rocha is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.

Silva thows a huge punch but Rocha dodges it nicely.
Silva working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rocha is looking to escape.
Rocha is breathing heavily.
Silva lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

and Silva counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Silva counters with a low kick, right behind Rocha 's knee.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Rocha circles away.
Silva connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rocha. Rocha circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexandre Silva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Silva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rocha manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Rocha takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Silva swings around for an armbar but Rocha sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.

Rocha wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.

Silva isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rocha stacks Silva on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rocha!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexandre Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rocha shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Rocha keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rocha to see if he's OK.
Silva works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Rocha regains half guard.
Rocha is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rocha can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Rocha is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Silva's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Silva's back!

Alexandre Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
