Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kent Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Montanez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kent Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pedro Montanez!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Montanez. Those never looked like landing.
Montanez tries to close the distance and clinch but Armstrong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Montanez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Montanez wants to pass to mount but Armstrong is defending the position.

Montanez slips a nice elbow through Armstrong's hands, connecting with Armstrong's forehead.

Montanez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Armstrong's guard.

Armstrong is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Armstrong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Armstrong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Montanez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Montanez looking to sit in guard and control but Armstrong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Armstrong decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Armstrong shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Montanez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Montanez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Armstrong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Armstrong dives in for a single leg takedown but Montanez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Montanez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Armstrong postures up and lands a big shot to Montanez's brow.
Armstrong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Montanez pivots, looking for a leg kick but Armstrong is out of range and Montanez settles back down.

Armstrong feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Montanez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Armstrong has picked Montanez up and slammed him! Montanez can't keep hold of the triangle and Armstrong manages to pass to side control!

Armstrong misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
