0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lolz Monsters! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carey swats away the attempt to clinch by Monsters. Monsters slips a jab and a cross from Carey.
Monsters shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Monsters trying to control the action but Carey is working from the bottom. Carey is looking to improve his position.
Monsters trying to pass the guard but Carey defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Monsters is trying to control the action in half guard but Carey is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Carey pushes Monsters off looking to stand but Monsters dives back in and keeps control.
Monsters is working for a submission of some sort.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lolz Monsters was stalling too much, according to the referee. Monsters is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Carey gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Monsters to score an easy takedown into full guard. Monsters would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Carey wants to get back to his feet but Monsters is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Monsters looking to pass the guard. Carey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Monsters throws a big elbow that misses.

Carey really is a fat lump. Carey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Monsters. Monsters prevents Carey from standing back up.
Carey won't allow Monsters to pass to mount. Carey kicks Monsters off and gets back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carey tries to clinch up. Monsters drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lolz Monsters dominated that round. The cut man is working on Clifton Carey's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Monsters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Monsters throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Carey works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Monsters is stalling here. Carey is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Monsters seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Carey has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Carey is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Monsters has escaped the position, nice work there. Carey decides to take the fight back to the feet. Monsters jabs Carey to the body, keeping him at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monsters drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lolz Monsters has got the better of the ground game so far. Carey pulls Monsters in to control the position. Monsters postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Carey scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Monsters is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carey's half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carey pushes Monsters off and gets back to his feet. Monsters dives in and scores a takedown into Carey's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Monsters wants to pass the guard but Carey is keeping the position. Monsters trying to control but Carey is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monsters is looking to advance position but Carey has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Carey has control of Monsters's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Monsters regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Carey connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Monsters taking shots to the head. Carey lands a heavy elbow. Carey landing strikes from the mount and Monsters is in trouble! Carey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carey lands a big shot there that rocks Monsters but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Carey is working for a guillotine from mount but Monsters frees his head quite easily.
Monsters's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Carey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Carey lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Carey is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Monsters has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Carey pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Carey tries to control but Monsters wriggling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monsters is looking to get to half guard. Carey landing strikes, looking to finish! Carey lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carey controlling from mount. BOOM! Carey connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Carey with shots to the head and body - Monsters looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carey lands with some strikes. Carey lands a big shot there that rocks Monsters but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Carey is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Monsters is forced to tap! Great finish!
