Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vernon Cook!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Storm!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cook.
Storm throws an overhand right that lands on Cook's shoulder, as Cook tries to avoid the shot.

Cook clinches up against the cage.
Cook lands with a left to the head.
Storm looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cook lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Storm is trying to break the clinch but Cook is controlling him.
Cook lands a left hand.
I was talking to Cook's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Storm lands with a short shot to the head.
Cook lands with a left to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Storm.
Cook goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Storm breaks from the clinch.
Cook with a nice cross.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cook lands a left and a right that send Storm crashing to the mat, dazed. Cook thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Storm is rocked!


It looks like Fred Storm has been cut.
Storm throws a nice looking combination but Cook bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Storm is still on wobbly legs! Can Cook finish him?
Storm looks to land a right hand but Cook moved out of range.
Storm throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cook counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cook comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Storm throws a big shot that misses.
Storm throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Storm throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cook throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Storm.
Storm seems to have recovered his senses.
Storm misses with a double jab.
Storm scores with a body shot.
Storm swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Storm misses with an uppercut. Cook saw that one coming.
Cook bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Storm shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Cook displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Storm throws out the jab.
Cook throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Storm on the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Storm. Cook does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cook fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cook lands a jab-cross combination.
Cook fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Cook darts in and clinches Storm up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cook lands a left hand.
Cook goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Storm has had enough of the clinch but Cook keeps him there for the moment.
Storm wants to break free but Cook has control.
Cook digs a right hand into Storm's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Storm's gas tank.
Storm is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cook lands a nice shot to the body.
Cook lands a left hand that snaps the head of Storm backwards.
Cook scores with a shot to the side of Storm's head.
Storm takes a knee to the side of the body.
Cook tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Cook lands a hook to the side of the head.
Storm looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cook putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Storm in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Storm looks winded!
Storm has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A nice right hand lands inside from Cook.

Cook drops Storm onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Storm is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
A head punch on the inside from Storm fails to land.
A right hook to the body lands for Cook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cook lands a huge knee in the clinch and it's knocked Storm out! Massive knee - he's celebrating with his corner and the crowd showing their appreciation!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Vernon Cook!
Vernon Cook retains his light heavyweight title!
Our winner, Vernon Cook, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
