The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DuVal connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed mediano momentarily.
DuVal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. mediano darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Well, if mediano is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
mediano has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DuVal is squirming around, avoiding mediano's attempts to control the action. mediano content just to control the position here. DuVal working to try and regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. DuVal sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. DuVal wants to get back to his feet. mediano lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. mediano takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. DuVal looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. mediano stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. DuVal tries to close the distance and clinch but mediano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. DuVal misses with a takedown and mediano counters with a single leg into guard. DuVal didn't expect that. mediano looking to control the position here, rather than advance. DuVal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. mediano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but DuVal is tightening it up a little... mediano has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! mediano reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! mediano taps out! nice BJJ there by DuVal!
