The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Churchill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Churchill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Espee paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Espee misses with a wild combination.
Espee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Churchill shoots in but no luck this time.
Espee swats away the attempt to clinch by Churchill.
Churchill throws a big shot that misses.
Churchill tries to close the distance and clinch up but Espee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Churchill falls off balance throwing a combination
and Espee moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Espee wants a takedown but no success here.
Churchill wants a takedown.
Churchill wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Espee drops down looking for an ankle pick but Churchill pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Espee fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Churchill.
Churchill throws a right and a left that both miss.
Espee plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Churchill misses with a few strikes there.
Churchill takes a kick to the side of the head.
Churchill with a lazy takedown attempt
and Espee counters with a big head kick but Churchill shrugs it off.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winston Churchill. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Churchill throws a sloppy body shot
and Espee counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Churchill!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Espee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
