Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gale Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Granger!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Gold!
James Granger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Granger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gold's waist but Gold gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Granger off to one side.
A head kick misses from Gold.
Granger closes the distance and clinches up with Gold, looking for a takedown. Granger pushes Gold against the cage but Gold circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Granger shoots in but no luck this time.
Gale Gold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Granger.
Gold connects with a looping right hand.
Gold scoring well with a low kick there.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Gold. Granger shrugs it off though.
Granger scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Granger is trying to control. Gold wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Gold is trying to control but can't.
Granger is looking for a kimura but Gold is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Granger to get the leverage.
Gold tries to get to full guard but Granger has control of the leg.
Granger is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gold tries to lock up and control but Granger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
BOOM! Granger connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gold taking shots to the head.
Gold tries to reverse the position but Granger maintains control.
Gold knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Granger on the ground.

Granger postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gold looks a forlorn figure.
Granger breaks from Gold's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Granger lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gold hang on?
Granger goes for an armbar but Gold turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gold.
Granger working for a triangle but Gold defends it easily.
Granger is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Gold has his hands clasped together but Granger extends and breaks Gold's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Granger.
