Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlo English!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wally Portman!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

English is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Portman's half guard.
Portman looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

English looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

English is looking for a kimura but Portman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for English to get the leverage.
English is controlling the pace.
Portman has hold of English's hands but English slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

English is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Portman is looking to escape.

English jumps guard but Portman stands there with English around his waist. English gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
English tries to pull guard but Portman won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlo English. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


English shoots for a takedown but Portman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

English pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Portman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming English to the mat! English manages to get full guard.

English looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Portman looking to sit in guard and control but English gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

English gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Portman stuffs the takedown attempt from English. English gets slowly back to his feet.
Wally Portman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
No luck with that takedown attempt from English.

Portman fakes a jab and throws a low kick but English checks it well.

Portman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for English!

Portman wants to take a breather but English is having none of it.

Portman is working for a submission of some sort.

English is trying to stand up here but Portman is controlling him well.

English has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Portman is on him like a limpet, forcing English back against the cage.

English's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Portman closes the distance and pushes English back into the cage.
English tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

English breaks the clinch.
Portman moves to clinch but English breaks away
and Portman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
English shoots for a double leg takedown but Portman sprawls well. He's pushed English's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Portman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Portman fails with an attempt to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Portman drives through with a takedown into English's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Portman throws a strike but English rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wally Portman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! English's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Portman enables English to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Portman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

English is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
English has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Portman is proving hard to escape from.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

English is sitting in close to Portman's body. Portman has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! English is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, English is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Portman.
