Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Willing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Willing has chosen Adagio For Strings as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Willing!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willing gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Gable counters with a takedown into side control.
Gable lands an elbow.
Gable trying to control the position but Willing is working away.
Willing dodges the ground and pound from Gable.

The ground and pound from Gable seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Willing's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Willing pushes Gable away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gable gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Gable has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dan Gable.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gable, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
