PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chiun Remo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Beto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joao Beto has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Chiun Remo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chiun Remo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joao Beto!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Remo throws a low kick but it's checked well by Beto.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Beto is defended easily by Remo.
Remo seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Remo shoots in but no luck this time.
Remo shoots in for a takedown but Beto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Remo tries a head kick but it misses.
Beto keeps the fight on the outside.
Beto gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Remo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Beto drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chiun Remo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joao Beto.

Remo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Remo throws a right and a left that Beto avoids nicely.
Beto doesn't manage to clinch there - Remo circles away.

Remo moves into the clinch successfully.
Beto is trying to break the clinch but Remo has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Remo tries to land knees in the clinch but Beto avoids the damage to the body.
Beto is trying to pull guard but Remo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Remo jumps guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Beto decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Remo clinches up against the cage.
Beto is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Remo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Remo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Beto is fighting off a takedown attempt but Remo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Beto to the mat. Beto regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Remo looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Beto trying to keep a closed guard but Remo is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beto striking off his back but it's not causing Remo any problems.
Remo controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Chiun Remo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Remo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Beto's guard.
Remo tries to stand but Beto is controlling from the bottom.
Beto thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Beto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Remo defends it easily.
Remo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Remo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Remo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Remo wants to control from the top but Beto keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Chiun Remo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Beto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A nice combination there by Remo.
Beto misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Remo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Beto shoots in for a double leg but Remo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Beto shoots in for a takedown but Remo shows good takedown defense.
Beto looks winded!

Remo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Beto on his heels. He'll look to pass Beto's guard now, I'm sure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Beto keeping moving, preventing Remo from controlling successfully.
Remo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Remo sitting in guard, not really doing much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chiun Remo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Beto.
Beto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Beto trying to control the position but Remo is working away.
Beto is working Remo over with some ground and pound from side control.

Beto is trying to get an arm triangle but Remo is defending well.

Beto is working to tighten his grip on Remo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Remo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Beto is really squeezing tight and eventually Remo passes out! Beto breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joao Beto!
