Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyreke Vesilla!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess blocks the body kick.
Burgess checks a leg kick.
Tyreke Vesilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vesilla throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Burgess's head.
Vesilla throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Vesilla throws a solid leg kick but Burgess takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Vesilla.

Burgess avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Burgess clinches with his opponent.

Vesilla jumps guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Vesilla is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Burgess is aware though and is defending well.
Burgess has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Vesilla looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Burgess has picked Vesilla up and slammed him! Vesilla can't keep hold of the triangle and Burgess manages to pass to side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vesilla is looking for a sweep.

You can see the frustration on Vesilla's face as Burgess controls the position.
Vesilla is trying to control Burgess's posture but Burgess avoids it.
Burgess lands a decent elbow from side control.
Vesilla tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burgess wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Burgess stands up.
Vesilla chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Vesilla connects with a leg kick. Burgess looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Vesilla connects with an inside leg kick.
Vesilla throws a nice inside leg kick.
Burgess blocks the body kick.

Burgess drives through with a takedown into Vesilla's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vesilla wants to control the position but Burgess says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Burgess drops an elbow to the side of Vesilla's head.
Burgess lands with a punch from half guard.
Burgess seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Burgess looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burgess is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Burgess lands a nice short elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vesilla is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Burgess scores with a couple of nice shots.
Vesilla tries to get to full guard but Burgess has control of the leg.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Vesilla is looking to improve his position.

Vesilla makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vesilla.
Burgess makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Burgess content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Burgess postures up and lands a big shot to Vesilla's brow.
Vesilla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Burgess scoring with punches to the head and body.
Vesilla not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Vesilla has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Vesilla is looking for a triangle but Burgess pushes his legs off easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tyreke Vesilla will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Burgess shoots in looking for a takedown. Vesilla tries to sprawl out of it but Burgess keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vesilla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vesilla throws a sloppy head kick and Burgess moves out of range easily.
Burgess checks a leg kick nicely.

Vesilla gets caught napping as Burgess dives in and scores a takedown. Vesilla manages to retain guard.
Vesilla is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Burgess's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Burgess has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Vesilla to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Burgess is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Vesilla pulls down on the head and he's put Burgess to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tyreke Vesilla!
Post fight, an emotional Tyreke Vesilla said 'I think that I'm the uncrowned champ and I'm coming for that belt!'.
