PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Loyd ONeil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Choel Six (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). ONeil comes to the cage accompanied by ICP - mad professor. Choel Six is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Loyd ONeil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Choel Six!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Six is defended easily by ONeil.
Six shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts ONeil as he jumps to the side.

ONeil drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
ONeil looking to pass the guard.
ONeil not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
ONeil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Six swivels though and keeps the full guard.
ONeil controlling from the top position.
ONeil has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Six controls ONeil momentarily but ONeil frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

ONeil bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
ONeil is staying tight to Six's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Six tries to buck ONeil off but ONeil is having none of it.
A lull in the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
ONeil scores with punches from side control.
ONeil controls the position from side control.
Six prevents ONeil from moving into mount.
Six is looking for a sweep.
ONeil moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

ONeil looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
ONeil advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Six is trying to escape the mount.
ONeil will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Six wants to control but ONeil is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
ONeil content just to control the position here.

Six defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from ONeil.
ONeil with the ground and pound from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Six keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Six should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

ONeil looking to secure an arm triangle but Six defends it well.
ONeil avoids the attempt from Six to control.
Six is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
ONeil controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Loyd ONeil dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



ONeil gets a takedown into half guard.
Six is looking for a sweep. ONeil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Six tries to kick ONeil off in order to stand up. ONeil Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
ONeil has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Six!
ONeil cracks Six with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
ONeil looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
ONeil's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Six is desperately trying to improve his position but ONeil has a good base and remains in mount.
ONeil controlling the position easily from mount.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Loyd ONeil.
Six shoots in for a takedown but ONeil shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Six shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as ONeil sprawls well. ONeil wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Six gets slowly back to his feet.
Six fails with a takedown attempt.
Loyd ONeil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Choel Six.
Horrible takedown attempt by Six or perhaps it was just good defense by ONeil, which made it look bad.
Six fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Six lands a lovely overhand right.
ONeil leaves Six with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
ONeil stuffs the takedown attempt from Six. Six gets slowly back to his feet.
Six is breathing heavily.

ONeil drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
ONeil controlling the position from side mount.

ONeil is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Six looks calm but he's in trouble here. ONeil gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Six is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! ONeil lets go of the hold and Six can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Loyd ONeil!
A very excited looking Loyd ONeil rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
