PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hector Kilimanjaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorma Potku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kilimanjaro's entrance music is Juodaan viinaa. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hector Kilimanjaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jorma Potku!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potku throws a nice inside leg kick.
Potku fails with an attempt to clinch.
Potku throws a head kick but Kilimanjaro moves out of range.
Potku changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kilimanjaro tries to avoid it but Potku manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kilimanjaro to the ground. Kilimanjaro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kilimanjaro changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Potku looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kilimanjaro swings around for an armbar but Potku sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kilimanjaro's guard.

Kilimanjaro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Potku can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kilimanjaro throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Potku escapes and throws Kilimanjaro's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Kilimanjaro is being controlled here.
Kilimanjaro is looking for a sweep.
Potku wants to stand but Kilimanjaro has his arm trapped.
Kilimanjaro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Potku wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kilimanjaro is working hard here to advance position.
Kilimanjaro is trying to escape the position but Potku is controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kilimanjaro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kilimanjaro is breathing heavily.
Potku throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Kilimanjaro wants to control from the top but Potku keeps moving.
Potku lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kilimanjaro!
Potku really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kilimanjaro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Potku landing strikes, looking to finish!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kilimanjaro keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kilimanjaro tries to lock up and control but Potku gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kilimanjaro can't escape the position.
Potku trying to control but Kilimanjaro is having none of it.
Kilimanjaro is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kilimanjaro tries to hold on but Potku pushes him away.
Potku looking to control but Kilimanjaro is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Potku sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Potku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kilimanjaro is looking to escape.
Kilimanjaro has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Potku's lack of action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kilimanjaro trying to get back to full guard but Potku takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Kilimanjaro is squirming around, avoiding Potku's attempts to control the action.
Potku controlling from mount.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jorma Potku just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kilimanjaro keeps the fight on the outside.
Potku misses with a takedown

and Kilimanjaro counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kilimanjaro is trying to control the action in half guard but Potku is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kilimanjaro is working for a submission of some sort.
Kilimanjaro is thwarting Potku's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector Kilimanjaro dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kilimanjaro shoots for a double leg takedown but Potku sprawls well. He's pushed Kilimanjaro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kilimanjaro trying to control the position but Potku is working away.
Potku is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kilimanjaro connects with a decent elbow.

Kilimanjaro has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Potku is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kilimanjaro yanks on the arm and Potku is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kilimanjaro.
