Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Freedman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Permitis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Freedman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francois Permitis! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freedman tries to close the distance and clinch but Permitis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Marcus Freedman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Freedman fails with a takedown attempt. Freedman closes the distance looking to clinch and Permitis counters by clinching up. Freedman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Permitis has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Freedman after a bit of a struggle. Freedman lands with a short punch from the clinch.
It looks like Francois Permitis has been cut. Freedman softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Permitis gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Freedman wants to get back to full guard. Freedman manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are working up against the ropes. Freedman manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the ropes.

Permitis has clasped his hands together around Freedman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Freedman manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Freedman throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Freedman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Permitis manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Freedman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. We've been hearing good reports from Freedman's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Permitis is trying to control Freedman's posture but Freedman avoids it. Freedman has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. A left and a right from Freedman both land. Nice combination. Freedman gets in close and instigates a clinch. Freedman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Permitis prevents it.

Freedman tightens his grip and picks Permitis up, before dumping him to the ground. Permitis manages to land in guard. Our spies down at at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $350 fee) inform us that Permitis has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Permitis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Permitis stopping the sweep attempt from Freedman. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freedman decides to stand back up. Freedman steps back and let's Permitis get back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Freedman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Permitis is defended easily by Freedman. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Freedman can't do much from the bottom here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Permitis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Freedman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Francois Permitis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Marcus Freedman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Permitis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
