Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oswaldo Shelton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jacob Kloose! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shelton turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Shelton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shelton dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kloose has his takedown stuffed and Shelton makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Shelton scores with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shelton is defended easily by Kloose. Shelton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kloose is trying to defend but Shelton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Kloose is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kloose works his way to full guard. Good work. Shelton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kloose wants to sweep here but Shelton controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kloose controlling the position. Kloose avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kloose lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shelton throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Kloose looking to pass the guard. Kloose looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Shelton will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Shelton can't keep his opponent in guard - Kloose advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kloose should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Shelton wants to improve his position but Kloose is controlling well.
