Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mick Ward!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
Ward has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.
Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Ward preventing the sweep.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ward trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Smith wriggles free and stands up.
Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ward gets back to full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smith's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ward striking off his back but it's not causing Smith any problems.
Ward will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Ward has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle.

Smith with a nice head shot there.
Smith scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ward trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Smith connects with a couple of short punches.
Smith is in close to Ward's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ward is on top in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ward working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ward is one step ahead there.
Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ward can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ward doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ward manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ward's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.

Smith is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Ward is rocked!
Smith cracks Ward with a solid left hand.
Ward is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?
Smith arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Ward's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bubba Smith!
In defeat, Mick Ward stepped up to the mic, saying 'You trained well....'.
