Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joshua Downs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bogart BenevideZ!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

BenevideZ drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Downs trying to remain calm as BenevideZ controls from the top position.
Downs tries to buck BenevideZ off but BenevideZ is having none of it.
Downs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from BenevideZ lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Downs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Downs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BenevideZ has closed the distance and engaged Downs in a clinch.
BenevideZ looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Downs jumps guard but BenevideZ turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bogart BenevideZ wasn't active enough on the ground.

BenevideZ closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Downs did well to prevent BenevideZ getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downs tries to roll over but BenevideZ keeps him under control.
BenevideZ is pressing down on Downs's thigh, looking to free his foot. Downs is holding on for now.

Downs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. BenevideZ gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
BenevideZ controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
BenevideZ wants to pass the guard but Downs is keeping the position.
BenevideZ not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

BenevideZ fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Downs to the ground. BenevideZ is now in Downs's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Downs is trying to keep BenevideZ in close.
BenevideZ stands up over Downs, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
BenevideZ content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Downs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well BenevideZ has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
