PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deon Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Pendell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pendell has chosen My God Is The Sun as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Deon Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Pendell!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pendell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Valdez's guard.
Valdez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Valdez wants to stand up but Pendell is controlling him.
Valdez is pulling down on Pendell's head. It's preventing any offense from Pendell, at least for the moment.
Pendell looking to sit in guard and control but Valdez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Valdez lands a couple of decent looking shots.

and Valdez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pendell holds on and takes a little breather.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Valdez wants to control from the top but Pendell keeps moving.
Valdez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Deon Valdez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pendell tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Valdez defends well and Pendell ends up having to push Valdez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Pendell shoots in for a takedown but Valdez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Pendell has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Valdez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Valdez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Valdez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Valdez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pendell defends well.

Pendell postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Valdez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pendell, into his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Valdez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
