Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dean Thomas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vinny Hopkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A slapping body kick lands there for Thomas.
Thomas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thomas lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hopkins will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A slapping leg kick lands for Thomas.
Thomas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thomas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hopkins checks a low kick from Thomas.
Thomas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Thomas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thomas throws a body kick that misses.
Thomas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fighters circling - Hopkins throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A nice inside leg kick there by Thomas. That's going to slow Hopkins down.

and Hopkins connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Dean Thomas has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Thomas takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Thomas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Thomas scores with a head kick.
Hopkins misses with a double jab.
Hopkins moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Thomas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hopkins throws a jab when Thomas was well out of range.
Thomas gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Hopkins gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Thomas is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vinny Hopkins!
After winning the bout, Vinny Hopkins thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
