Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Moxon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Crash Bandicoot! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moxon throws a head kick that misses. Bandicoot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Moxon is trying to control but can't.
Bandicoot thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Moxon is trying to get back to full guard. Moxon looking for submissions off his back. Bandicoot is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Moxon defends it well. Bandicoot is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Moxon actively working from the bottom here. Moxon has hold of Bandicoot's hands but Bandicoot slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bandicoot working his ground and pound in the gym. Moxon wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moxon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bandicoot pulls his head out easily. Moxon gets back to full guard.
Moxon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bandicoot manages to get himself to full guard.
Moxon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bandicoot tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bandicoot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Moxon looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Moxon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Moxon is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Steel Penn/Heavy Hands Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Moxon tries to get to full guard but Bandicoot has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bandicoot is nestled in close to Moxon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Bandicoot controlling the action here. Bandicoot wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bandicoot trying to mount his opponent but Moxon defends it. This has been an exciting period of action! Moxon is trying to control but can't.
Bandicoot passes to full mount! Bandicoot has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Moxon's face.
Bandicoot tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Bandicoot lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Moxon slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Moxon looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Bandicoot scoring with strikes to the body and head. Moxon is defending against the submission attempts here by Bandicoot.
Bandicoot seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moxon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bandicoot. Moxon is trying to get back to full guard. Bandicoot thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Moxon's head. Moxon works his way to full guard. Good work. Moxon keeping moving, preventing Bandicoot from controlling successfully. Bandicoot avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Moxon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Moxon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Moxon has his foot on Bandicoot's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bandicoot works his way back into a safe position though. Bandicoot wants to control from the top but Moxon keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bandicoot stands and steps away. Moxon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Moxon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bandicoot circles away quickly and effectively. Bandicoot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moxon defends it nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bandicoot tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Moxon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Moxon wants it to stay on the feet. Moxon throws a nice looking combination but Bandicoot bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bandicoot crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Moxon - the referee stops the clock and Bandicoot gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Moxon. Bandicoot manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Moxon looks to throw the jab but Bandicoot is out of range. Bandicoot tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Moxon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bandicoot dives in for a single leg takedown but Moxon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Jonathan Moxon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crash Bandicoot. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bandicoot has Moxon pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bandicoot pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Moxon tumbling to the mat - Bandicoot dives into Moxon's guard. Bandicoot is posturing up here but Moxon has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bandicoot tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bandicoot has to tap! Slick submission there by Moxon!
