Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Jo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergio Bujol! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bujol fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jo tries to clinch up. Bujol avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bujol sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jo somewhat. Jo doesn't manage to clinch there - Bujol circles away.
Jo fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bujol feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Jo sprawling to the canvas! Jo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Bujol finish him?!
Jo is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bujol throws out a loose jab but Jo uses good head movement to avoid it. Oh Jo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Bujol tries to circle away but Jo has him pinned against the cage. Jo seems to have got his legs back now. Jo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jo is trying to drag Bujol to the mat but Bujol just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Jo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bujol is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bujol is trying to push Jo away but Jo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Jo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bujol is defending well against a takedown attempt. Jo struggles to land a body shot inside as Bujol controls his hands.
Bujol is looking to break free of the clinch but Jo has double underhooks. Bujol is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Bujol blocks an elbow strike. Bujol manages to break the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Jo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Bujol moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Bujol throws a nice looking combination but Jo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jo takes a jab right on the kisser.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bujol closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Jo out cold! Jo corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
