Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jarl Ekins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glenn Kenny!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Kenny.
Kenny lands with a kick to the temple. Ekins shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ekins closes the distance and clinches.
Ekins works on Kenny's body with a couple of short punches.
A short left from Ekins.
Kenny tries to pull guard but Ekins holds him up against the ropes and eventually Kenny drops back down to his feet.
Ekins works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Kenny looks gassed!
Kenny's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Kenny jumps guard but Ekins stands there with Kenny around his waist. Kenny gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kenny breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ekins closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Kenny is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
A short left from Ekins.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kenny tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ekins's elbow.
Ekins lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kenny drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jarl Ekins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glenn Kenny.
Ekins just leaning against Kenny, taking a breather.
Ekins lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ekins pressing his opponent against the ropes.
Ekins lands with a right to the head.
Ekins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ekins digs a good body shot into Kenny's ribs.
Ekins dances in with a quick combination. Kenny is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Ekins snaps Kenny's head back. Kenny stumbles backwards against the ropes. Ekins steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Kenny's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Kenny just didn't come prepared.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jarl Ekins!
