The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgowan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Malone circles away.
Malone rushes Mcgowan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Malone jumps guard.
Malone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcgowan manages to get himself to full guard.
Malone wants to stand but Mcgowan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Malone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Malone is pushing down on Mcgowan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mcgowan is fighting to maintain full guard but Malone has managed to sneak the leg through.
Malone tries to stand and escape but Mcgowan is controlling the position.
Malone is looking to advance position but Mcgowan won't allow it.
Mcgowan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Malone with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mcgowan trying to get back to full guard but Malone takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Malone lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mcgowan hang on?
Mcgowan is rocked!
It looks like Darnell Mcgowan has been cut.
Malone working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Mcgowan turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Malone off and cradles Mcgowan's limp body as Malone celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Frank Malone!
