12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karri Koira! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Koira. No joy for Green on that attempt. Koira scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Green takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Green fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Green tries to keep at a distance but Koira has taken the fight into the clinch. Green pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Green showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Koira.

We've been hearing reports that Green has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Koira keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Green's efforts to push away. Koira's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Koira moves into range and connects with a jab. Green thuds his right hand into Koira's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Koira fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Green manages to avoid it. A nice leg kick lands there from Koira. Koira rushes Green and presses him up against the cage. Koira misses with a hook from the clinch. Green taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Green throws the left hand but Koira avoids the punch easily. Koira is looking to clinch. Green swats away the attempt to clinch by Koira. Koira uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Green.
Green takes one to the chin there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Green scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Koira avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Green. Koira can't do much from the bottom here. Koira gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Green is trying to control the action in half guard but Koira is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Koira is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Green blocks a low kick nicely. Koira lands with a nice combination. Green backs away looking to recover. Jab from Koira. Some bone on bone action there as Koira checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Koira stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Koira wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Pablo Green. That's going to take a lot out of him. Green drives through with a takedown into Koira's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Koira controls Green momentarily but Green frees himself. Koira pulls Green in to control the position. Koira keeping moving, preventing Green from controlling successfully. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Green throwing strikes but missing. OK we're going to have a standup here. Karri Koira hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Koira chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Green fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Green throws a hook to the side of Koira's head but Koira sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Karri Koira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Koira lands a nice shot to the body.

Koira throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Green. Green slips a jab from Koira. Koira does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Green shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Koira is trying to defend but Green finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Juan Pablo Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Koira tries to avoid it but Green manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koira to the ground. Koira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Green throws the left hand but Koira avoids the punch easily. Green keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Koira fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Green has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Koira lands a head shot. Green dodges the punch combination from Koira.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Pablo Green. I think Green has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
