Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lincoln Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels falls off balance throwing a combination

and Rice counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Daniels's guard now.
Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rice engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Rice stops Daniels from standing up.

Rice stands up and waves to Daniels to follow him.

Daniels has managed to clinch.
Rice is looking to break free of the clinch but Daniels has double underhooks.
Daniels wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rice is trying to force a seperation but Daniels has the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rice avoiding damage as Daniels throws knees to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Rice's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Rice is trying to break the clinch but Daniels has him pressed against the cage.
Daniels has had enough of the clinch but Rice keeps him there for the moment.
Daniels has Rice pressed against the cage, preventing Rice from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Daniels breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Daniels rushes Rice and presses him up against the cage.
Daniels fails to pull guard.
Rice is looking for a takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Daniels.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Rice wants to get back to striking at distance but Daniels won't allow it.
Rice wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Daniels has him pressed against the cage.
Rice gets underhooks to prevent Daniels's takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniels tries to pull guard but Rice won't allow it.
Lincoln Rice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Daniels.
Rice tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rice can't find room to land a body shot as Daniels controls the action.
Daniels stops a takedown attempt from Rice.
Rice tries to circle away but Daniels has him pinned against the cage.
Daniels is trying to pull guard but Rice turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Rice is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Daniels is defending well.

Rice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Daniels shoots and misses

and Rice counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Rice escapes and gets back to his feet.
Daniels tries for a takedown but Rice circles away easily

and Rice counters with a nice double leg into side control. Daniels won't be happy with that.
Daniels is being controlled here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Lincoln Rice has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Daniels closes the distance and clinches.
Rice lands a knee to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Daniels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rice walks away with a smile on his face. Daniels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Rice counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rice postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daniels wants to control but Rice passes easily into half guard.
Rice drops an elbow to the side of Daniels's head.
Rice content to control rather than advance.
Rice has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Daniels throws strikes from the bottom but it's allowed Rice to grab hold of an arm and go for an armbar! It's tiiiiiiiiight! Daniels is forced to tap! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lincoln Rice!
