PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Owinashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bam Bam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Owinashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bam Bam!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owinashi thuds a left hand into Bam's body.
Owinashi swinging wildly here.
Robert Owinashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bam moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Owinashi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Owinashi swats away the attempt to clinch by Bam.
Bam misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Owinashi swinging wildly here.
A jab from Bam misses.
Owinashi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Bam's head.
Bam misses with a head kick.
Bam throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Owinashi lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


It looks like Bam Bam has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bam.

Owinashi throws a left that rocks Bam and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Owinashi dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Bam regain composure!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Owinashi throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Bam works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Owinashi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Owinashi lands a nice short elbow.

Bam really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Owinashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Owinashi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bam is trying to stand back up but Owinashi is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owinashi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Owinashi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Owinashi tries to pass to full mount but Bam defends it.
Owinashi thows a huge punch but Bam dodges it nicely.
Bam is trying to stand up here but Owinashi is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Owinashi is trying to control the action in half guard but Bam is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bam is doing well to control the position and prevent Owinashi from advancing to side control.
Owinashi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bam's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Owinashi scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Owinashi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Owinashi throwing shots but Bam is blocking nicely.
Owinashi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bam keeps working.
Owinashi is really struggling to control Bam but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Owinashi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Owinashi sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owinashi is looking to advance position but Bam won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bam can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bam wants to get back to his feet.
Bam wants to control but Owinashi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bam avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Owinashi.
Bam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bam darts in looking for a takedown but Owinashi gets double underhooks and turns Bam into the cage.
Bam looks winded!

Bam manages to break the clinch.
Owinashi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bam backs up against the cage.
Bam tries to clinch there but Owinashi circles away.
Bam tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Owinashi is able to avoid easily.
Bam has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


That has opened up Bam Bam's cut even more.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bam is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Owinashi moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Owinashi!
