0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clayton Fydrich! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fydrich gets caught napping as Ferrus dives in and scores a takedown. Fydrich manages to retain guard. Fydrich looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferrus postures up.
Ferrus looking to pass the guard. Ferrus sitting in guard here, content to control. Ferrus working some strikes from top position. Ferrus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ferrus postures up and lands a big shot to Fydrich's brow. Ferrus drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fydrich looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fydrich looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fydrich! Ferrus wants to control but Fydrich postures up. Ferrus is trying to get back to his feet. Ferrus looks to move to half guard but instead Fydrich has passed into mount! Damn!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferrus looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Ferrus trying to get back to his feet but Fydrich is in full control for now. Fydrich has the hooks in. Ferrus is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Ferrus trying to control the hands but Fydrich won't let him. Fydrich keeps control of the position as Ferrus tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferrus fending off the submission attempt from Fydrich. Fydrich looks winded! Ferrus wants to escape the position.
Ferrus trying to control the action but Fydrich just sinks the hooks in. Ferrus tries to break free.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ferrus trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Ferrus looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fydrich! Ferrus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fydrich, who protects the arm well. Ferrus controlling from side mount. Ferrus lands an elbow. Ferrus has hold of Fydrich's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Fydrich seems comfortable defending it but Ferrus has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Fydrich is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Fydrich is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ferrus couldn't care less - he's delighted!
