The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a predictable looking body shot
and Parsons counters with a one-two to the body.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Parsons slips a jab from Jones.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parsons moves away.
Jones misses with a hook to the body
and Parsons counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Parsons to acknowledge the strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jones swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Parsons counters with a one-two to the body.
Jones gets the takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jones staying calm.
Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Parsons knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Parsons, who protects the arm well.
We've been hearing good reports from Jones's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Jones swings around for an armbar but Parsons sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jones's guard.
Jones is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Parsons frees his head nicely. Oh but Jones has switched to an armbar! Parsons is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
