Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Cogliano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marco Santos will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Cogliano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Santos! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos tries to clinch but Cogliano moves out of range. Santos pushes Cogliano up against the cage in a clinch. Cogliano lands a takedown into guard.
Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Santos working for a triangle but Cogliano defends it easily.
Santos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cogliano is one step ahead there. Santos is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Santos strikes from his own guard. Santos is trying to keep Cogliano in close.
Santos wants to stand up but Cogliano is controlling him.

Santos controls Cogliano momentarily but Cogliano frees himself.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cogliano keeps the fight on the outside. Santos tries to clinch up. Cogliano darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cogliano wants to stand but Santos has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Cogliano is breathing heavily. Cogliano is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Santos tries to kick Cogliano off but Cogliano keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos wants to improve his position but Cogliano is controlling well.
Santos is looking to escape. Santos flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Cogliano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Santos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. and Cogliano counters with a single leg into guard. Santos didn't expect that. Santos controls Cogliano momentarily but Cogliano frees himself. Santos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are battling for position here. Santos manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santos throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Cogliano decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cogliano will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Cogliano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Santos. Santos tries to clinch but Cogliano moves away and Cogliano counters by moving into the clinch. Santos with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Cogliano manages to break the clinch.
Santos tries to clinch up but Cogliano circles away and keeps his distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josh Cogliano dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cogliano passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santos is trying to get back to his feet. Cogliano is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Santos has escaped the position, nice work there. Cogliano trying to control the action but Santos is working from the bottom. Cogliano tries for a kimura but Santos is defending well. Santos is trying to control Cogliano's posture but Cogliano avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Santos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Santos is looking to take a break and control but Cogliano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Santos drops an elbow to the side of Cogliano's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos is working for a submission of some sort.

Cogliano looking to control but Santos is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cogliano goes for an armbar but Santos turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Santos. Santos stands up and waves to Cogliano to follow him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cogliano plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Santos closes the distance but Cogliano moves to the side and Cogliano counters with a single leg into guard. Santos didn't expect that. Santos wants to stand but Cogliano is controlling the position. Cogliano gets to his feet - Santos follows without any prompting. Santos fails in his attempt to clinch. Cogliano avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cogliano shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. You get the feeling that Santos really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Cogliano works a leg free and moves into half guard. Josh Cogliano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cogliano is thwarting Santos's attempts to control the position. Cogliano moves nicely into side control. You can see the frustration on Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos is trying to get back to half guard. Cogliano decides to stand back up. Cogliano steps back and let's Santos get back to his feet. Santos with a poor takedown so Cogliano counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Cogliano trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Cogliano won't allow Santos to sweep him here. Cogliano controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Cogliano looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cogliano wants to get back to his feet but Santos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight! Josh Cogliano showed his dominance in that final round. Well Cogliano has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
