Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Aron Burza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danjie Mercado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burza kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Du Hast - Rammstein. Mercado has chosen Pagsubok as his entrance music. Aron Burza has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danjie Mercado! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercado throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Burza scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Burza wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mercado keeps working. Burza takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Mercado wants to get back to full guard. Burza wants to take a breather but Mercado is having none of it. Burza throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Mercado wants to get back to full guard. Burza is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nice strikes from Burza there. Mercado is looking for a sweep. Burza is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mercado is trying to maintain the position but Burza is very close to passing his half guard. Burza looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mercado with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burza wants to control but Mercado is keeping him busy. Burza frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Mercado is trying desperately to improve position. Burza tries to control but Mercado wriggling away. Mercado manages to regain half guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burza missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Burza prevents Mercado from improving his position. Mercado moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Burza is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Wax on Wax off 'Dojo that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Mercado manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mercado sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Burza's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Mercado prevents Burza from improving his position. Burza trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burza works his way to full guard. Good work. Mercado wants to control from the top but Burza keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Burza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mercado does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mercado is looking to control Burza's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mercado avoid being mounted? Burza is nestled in close to Mercado, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Mercado has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burza is working away from the top position though. Mercado is trying to get back to full guard. Burza seems to be working for a kimura but Mercado defends the submission attempt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Burza looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Aron Burza will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Nice takedown defense from Burza. No joy for Mercado on that attempt. Burza closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mercado did well to prevent Burza getting side control. Burza maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mercado could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Burza has cracked it and Mercado is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Burza!
