The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walters looks to land a combination but Mudzuri avoids it well.
Walters lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Walters lands a glancing blow to the side of Mudzuri's head.
Walters ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mudzuri moves away.
Walters gets tackled into the cage by Mudzuri. Mudzuri maintains the clinch.
Walters blocks an uppercut.
Mudzuri has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Mudzuri keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Walters's efforts to push away.

Mudzuri fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Walters manages to avoid it.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Walters enables Mudzuri to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Walters manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mudzuri thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Walters is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mudzuri escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walters can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mudzuri is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Walters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Walters keeps Mudzuri under control for a moment.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mudzuri takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Mudzuri.
A punch combination from Walters misses.
Mudzuri has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mudzuri there as he acknowledges the shot.
Walters throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
A left and a right from Walters both land. Nice combination.
Walters throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mudzuri stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mudzuri lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Walters circles away quickly and effectively.

Walters closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Walters thows a left - swing and a miss!
Josiah Mudzuri is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Walters cracks a nice hook into Mudzuri's ribs.
Mudzuri tries to clinch up but Walters circles away and keeps his distance.

Mudzuri misses with a hook from the clinch.

Walters has had enough of the clinch but Mudzuri keeps him there for the moment.
Mudzuri jumps guard and drags Walters to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Mudzuri is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Walters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mudzuri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mudzuri is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Walters can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Mudzuri is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Walters has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Josiah Mudzuri overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mudzuri is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Walters is defending well though. Mudzuri let's go of the attempt for now.
