PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, David Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders throws a nice looking combination but Wilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Wilson gets a takedown into half guard.
Nice strikes from Wilson there.
Wilson is trying to control the action in half guard but Sanders is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wilson wants to free his trapped foot but Sanders is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sanders is controlling Wilson's trapped leg to prevent Wilson from advancing to side control.
Wilson tries to pass to full mount but Sanders defends it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wilson connects with a nice short shot to Sanders's temple.
Wilson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanders's head.
Sanders keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wilson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sanders with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wilson is keen to just control but Sanders is a slippery customer.
Wilson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wilson missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Wilson misses with a head shot. Sanders uses the momentum to regain guard.
Sanders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wilson looking to sit in guard and control but Sanders gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sanders is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sanders wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sanders throws a right and a left that Wilson avoids nicely.
Sanders throws a nice looking combination but Wilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wilson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sanders counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wilson tries to clinch up but Sanders circles away and keeps his distance.
Sanders looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wilson shoots in for a double leg but Sanders sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wilson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nice cross by Sanders.


It looks like David Wilson has been cut.
Sanders throws a combination. Wilson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Sanders keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bruce Sanders has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wilson.
Sanders lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Wilson sprawling to the canvas. Sanders follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Wilson hang on?


Wilson is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sanders seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Wilson wants to improve his position but Sanders is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wilson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wilson.
Sanders wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving.
Wilson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wilson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wilson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Wilson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Sanders postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanders comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Wilson looks gassed!
Sanders connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Sanders dominated that round.
The cut man is working on David Wilson's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sanders fails with the takedown.
Wilson is looking to clinch but Sanders is avoiding it.
Sanders swings for the body but Wilson moves out of range.
Wilson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jab by Sanders.
Bruce Sanders is winning the standup battle so far.
Sanders scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wilson doesn't seem bothered though.
Wilson misses with a takedown
and Sanders counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wilson thinking.

Wilson dodges the punch combination from Sanders.
Wilson is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanders lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wilson backs up against the ropes.


That has opened up David Wilson's cut even more.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sanders darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wilson misses with a double jab
and Sanders counters with a stiff right hand.
Sanders smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


The cut above David Wilson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wilson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Sanders tests Wilson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sanders connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


David Wilson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Bruce Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sanders connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Wilson! He's out on his feet! Sanders rushes in and drops Wilson with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bruce Sanders!
