Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buster Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall's entrance music is Sam Hall. A fine choice. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buster Knott! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knott slips under a jab from Hall. Knott takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Hall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hall looks to score with a jab to the body but Knott is just out of range. Hall throws an off balance right hand
and Knott counters with a takedown into side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hall is looking for a sweep. Knott wants to take a breather but Hall manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Knott. Knott won't allow Hall to sweep him here. Knott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hall works some decent striking defense from the bottom. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hall is trying to keep Knott in close.
My spies in Boomerang!! inform me that Knott has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Knott wants to pass the guard but Hall is keeping the position. Knott wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hall works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Knott postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Knott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Knott stopping the sweep attempt from Hall. Knott trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Knott throws a head kick that misses. Hall misses with a wild body shot. Hall scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Knott shoots in and drives through. Hall sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck for Knott with that takedown attempt. Hall avoids the body shot from Knott.
Hall uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Hall is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Knott misses with a takedown attempt - Hall sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sam Hall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buster Knott. A lazy body kick from Knott and Hall counters with a straight right hand. Hall stuffs the takedown attempt from Knott. Knott gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hall takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Hall misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Knott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Decent striking displayed by Hall there. Hall lands with a shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hall scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. A looping hook to the body misses from Hall. Knott does a little dance to reset his feet. Knott takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Hall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hall, as that shot connected.
Knott lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Knott uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Hall lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Knott goes down and covers up as Hall starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Hall! A very excited looking Sam Hall made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. In defeat, Buster Knott stepped up to the mic, saying 'I still have heaps of improvement, and I'm coming for you next time!'.
