Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ulysses Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichi Ijima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grant kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is United States of America's National Anthem. Ijima has chosen Alphabetical #1 - Karera Musication as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ijima lands a jab.
Grant bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ijima's head backwards.
Ijima has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Grant.
Ijima keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Grant.
Grant shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Grant swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Grant throws a nice outside leg kick.
Grant misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ijima counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ijima is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Grant sees it coming and defends easily.
Grant wants to get back to his feet.
Ijima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grant keeps working.
Ijima not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Ijima tries to pass to full mount but Grant defends it.

Grant fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ijima manages to avoid it.
Grant uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ijima.

Grant pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ijima is out of range and Grant settles back down.
Ijima throws a hook to the side of Grant's head but Grant sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Grant lands a head kick. Ijima smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A cross from Ijima lands.
Ijima has a takedown stuffed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Grant walks into a straight right hand from Ijima.
Grant misses with a leg kick
and Ijima counters with a single leg into guard. Grant didn't expect that.
Ijima makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Ijima stops Grant from standing up.
Grant has his feet on Ijima's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Grant lands a nice hook to Ijima's body. Ijima takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Grant throws a body punch but Ijima moves out of range.
Grant swings widly with a right hand
and Ijima counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ijima.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ijima is working Grant over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ijima won't allow Grant to get back to his feet.
Ijima has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ijima wants to pass the guard but Grant is keeping the position.
Grant utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Grant scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Grant misses with a combination
and Ijima counters by moving into the clinch.
Ijima looking to stall.
Grant wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ijima tries to pull guard but Grant holds him up against the cage and eventually Ijima drops back down to his feet.
Grant breaks from the clinch.
Grant cracks Ijima with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ijima checks a low kick from Grant.
A swing and a miss from Ijima.
Ijima with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Grant to score with a decent uppercut.
Ijima slips under a jab from Grant.
Ijima throws a lazy uppercut
and Grant counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ijima wants to clinch up but Grant keeps it at a distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Grant tries a head kick but it misses.

Grant scores with a jab to the jaw.

Ijima moves into range and connects with a jab.

A relieved looking Ulysses Grant thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
