Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kent Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matti Laine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent Armstrong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kent Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matti Laine!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine closes the distance but Armstrong moves to the side
and Armstrong makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Laine tries to keep at a distance but Armstrong has taken the fight into the clinch.
Armstrong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Laine working hard to break the clinch.
Laine is trying to break the clinch but Armstrong is controlling him.

Armstrong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Laine decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Armstrong is not content to let Laine control the position.
Armstrong keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Armstrong is staying active underneath Laine, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matti Laine hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Armstrong tries to close the distance and clinch but Laine swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Laine is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Laine shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Laine was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Armstrong is holding Laine down, trying to stall.
Laine working away.

Laine thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Laine decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Armstrong avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Laine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Armstrong fails in his attempt to clinch.

Laine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Armstrong was covering up waiting for the punch and Laine finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Laine stands and throws Armstrong's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Armstrong wants to control but Laine postures up.

Laine is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Armstrong has escaped the position, nice work there.

Laine stands up and beckons Armstrong to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Laine shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Laine gets caught flat footed, as Armstrong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matti Laine dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Laine throws a right hand that Armstrong ducks under and follows up with a left that Armstrong also avoids with ease.

Armstrong pushes Laine up against the cage in a clinch.
Armstrong tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Laine decides to pull guard.
Laine wants to stand up but Armstrong is controlling him.
Matti Laine has got the better of the ground game so far.

Laine pushes Armstrong off and scrambles back to his feet.

Armstrong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Armstrong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Laine on the ground.
Laine is trying to get back to his feet.
An elbow from Armstrong crashes against the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Armstrong in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Armstrong working away.
Laine wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Armstrong fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Laine tries to escape but Armstrong is in control.

Armstrong tries for a kimura but Laine is defending well.
Laine wants to control but Armstrong postures up.

Armstrong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Laine has escaped the position, nice work there.
Laine manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Armstrong is thwarting Laine's attempts to control the position.
Armstrong looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Armstrong is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Laine is just riding it out for now. Armstrong eventually gives up the hold.
Laine wants to control but Armstrong is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Laine is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Armstrong's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Armstrong's back!

Laine has his arm under Armstrong's chin here. Game over son! Laine squeezes tightly and Armstrong is forced to tap out!
