Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ming Ling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pernell Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ming Ling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pernell Karl!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ling has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Karl finds it's way round the side to connect with Ling's head.
Karl throws a sloppy head kick and Ling moves out of range easily.
Karl scores with a jab to the head.
A big left from Karl misses.
A right-left combo lands from Karl.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Karl misses with a jab, cross combination.
Karl throws a wild body kick that Ling sees coming a mile off.
Ling shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Karl as he avoids it easily.
Karl throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ling stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Karl misses with a series of wild punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ling slips a jab and a cross from Karl.
Karl tries to bum rush Ling with a series of wild strikes but Ling uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Karl throws a lazy right hand but Ling sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ling checks the leg kick.
Ling shoots in looking for a takedown but Karl manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ling's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ming Ling. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karl throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karl tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ling is able to avoid easily.
Karl lands a nice hook to Ling's body. Ling takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Ling closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Karl tries to buck Ling off but Ling is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karl can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ling trying to control the position but Karl is working away.

Ling looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ling has hold of Karl's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Karl seems comfortable defending it but Ling has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Karl is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Karl is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ling couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ming Ling!
