PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jordon Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jordon Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter James!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Robinson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Robinson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

James has hold of Robinson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Robinson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Robinson wants to hold on but James pushes him away.
Robinson is bucking up trying to escape but James cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

James throws some wild stikes that Robinson manages to avoid easily.
Robinson tries to hold on but James postures up.

James has got his arm under Robinson's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Robinson has spun round into James's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James doesn't manage to clinch there - Robinson circles away.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Robinson sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Peter James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

James slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

James wants to get up but he can't break Robinson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

James takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

James stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Robinson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Peter James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
