Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marlin Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Unit Three (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Unit Three told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marlin Ray! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Unit Three! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Three drives through with a takedown into Ray's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ray is trying to keep Three in close.
Ray really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Three would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Three pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ray is keeping the position for now. Three wants to stand but Ray is controlling his posture from full guard. Three must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Three slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ray working a defensive guard here.
Marlin Ray has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Three changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ray looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Three thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Ray is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Three's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Ray is trying is best to control the position here. Ray is trying to maintain the position but Three is very close to passing his half guard. Ray works his way to full guard. Good work. Ray wants to sweep here but Three controlling him for the moment. Ray keeping moving, preventing Three from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ray throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Three postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Three trying to control but Ray is working from the bottom. Ray is trying to control the position but Three postures up. Ray being controlled here, momentarily. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Three is looking to stand up but Ray won't let him.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Unit Three. Ray closes the distance but Three moves to the side and Three counters by moving into the clinch. Ray avoiding damage as Three throws knees to the body.
Three lands a takedown into guard.
Three is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ray looking to control.
Ray wants to sweep here but Three controlling him for the moment. Three trying to control but Ray is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Three won't allow Ray to sweep him here.
Unit Three has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Ray gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Three wants to stand but Ray has a closed guard, so he can't escape. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ray keeping full guard, as Three tries to pass. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ray keeping moving, preventing Three from controlling successfully. Ray wants to stand up but Three is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Unit Three dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Three scores with a takedown into Ray's guard. Ray controls Three momentarily but Three frees himself. Ray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Three is one step ahead there. Ray escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Three gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Three controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Three wants to stand and escape but instead Ray has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Three controls Ray momentarily but Ray frees himself. Ray throws a big elbow that misses. Ray throws an elbow that misses. Three uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ray's guard. Nice move by Three!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Three passes into half guard. Three throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ray keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Three is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ray flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ray wants to get back to his feet. Ray is looking to improve his position.

Three is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ray gets caught flat footed, as Three shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ray is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ray looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Three postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Three slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Three stands and throws Ray's legs to the side, diving into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The referee asks Three politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Three prefers to stall for the moment though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Unit Three showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Ray gets tackled into the cage by Three. Three maintains the clinch. Three manages to break the clinch.
Three bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Three is looking to take a break and control but Ray is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ray is trying to improve his position. Three is trying to move to mount but Ray reverses beautifully and ends up in Three's guard. Three working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ray doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ray manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Three is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ray is aware though and is defending well. Three is striking from the bottom but Ray uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Three slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Three pulls Ray in to control the position.

Ray is fighting to break Three's control of his arms but Three is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Ray is in close to Three's body, working some short punches and elbows. Three is controlling Ray's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Unit Three. Three misses with the body kick and Ray makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Three really felt that one! Three uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ray.
Three shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ray is trying to defend but Three finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ray tries to roll over but Three keeps him under control. Three wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ray keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Unit Three has got the better of the ground game so far. The fighters are battling for position here. Ray manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Three seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Unit Three wasn't active enough on the ground. Ray wants to clinch up but Three keeps it at a distance. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Three misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ray finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Marlin Ray has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Unit Three is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Three gets a double leg takedown into Ray's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Unit Three comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Three has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
