Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Taber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Roberts. No joy for Taber on that attempt.
Taber fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

Taber tries to pull guard but Roberts holds him up against the cage and eventually Taber drops back down to his feet.

Taber drops down looking for an ankle pick but Roberts pulls his leg out and moves away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Roberts enables Taber to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Roberts manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Taber wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

Taber stops Roberts from standing up.

Taber postures up in Roberts's guard and throws a big left but Roberts blocks it.
Taber trying to control but Roberts is working from the bottom.
Taber wanted to stand there but Roberts had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taber won't allow Roberts to get back to his feet.
Taber has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Roberts is proving hard to escape from.
Roberts wants to stand and escape but Taber is having none of it.
Taber wants to get up but he can't break Roberts's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Joseph Taber has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Roberts fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Roberts shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Taber's guard.
Taber can't keep his opponent in guard - Roberts advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Taber stalks Roberts and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Roberts's face. Roberts staggers backwards, shaken.
Taber dives in for a single leg takedown but Roberts sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Taber is breathing heavily.
Roberts is looking for a takedown.
Roberts can't get the takedown.
Roberts has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Taber is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Taber has Roberts pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Taber pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Roberts tumbling to the mat - Taber dives into Roberts's guard.
Roberts is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Roberts manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Taber wants to clinch
and Roberts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taber's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roberts trying to control but Taber is working from the bottom.
Taber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Roberts defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Rick Roberts will probably get the nod.

Roberts shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Taber manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Roberts wants to pass the guard but Taber is keeping the position.
Roberts pushes down on Taber's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Roberts takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Roberts passes to full mount!
Taber is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Roberts in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Taber is rocked!
Roberts lands with some strikes.
Oh Taber is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Roberts working the ground and pound effectively.
Oooh a big shot lands for Roberts! Taber is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
