PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrick Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Break Stuff kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Romero.
Romero throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Romero tries to bum rush Garcia with a series of wild strikes but Garcia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Romero falls off balance throwing a combination
and Garcia finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Romero rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Garcia moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Romero throws a head kick that misses
and Garcia counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Garcia counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Garcia holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Romero has hold of one of Garcia's legs. Garcia is fighting the takedown attempt but Romero gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Romero working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Romero drops back, looking for a kneebar! Garcia looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Garcia looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Garcia!

Romero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Garcia wants to stand but Romero has his arm trapped.
Romero wants to get back to his feet but Garcia drags him back down.

Garcia decides to stand back up. Garcia steps back and let's Romero get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Bradley Romero will probably get the nod.

Romero's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Romero has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Garcia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
