Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Crasher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Perez!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Donatello Bradman and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Perez enables Crasher to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Perez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Perez looking for a sweep. Not yet Perez, not yet.
Perez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crasher's guard.
Crasher can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Perez controls the pace.
Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Crasher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've been hearing good reports from Crasher's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Jon Perez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Crasher closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Perez to the mat! Perez manages to get full guard.

Perez controls Crasher momentarily but Crasher frees himself.

Johnny Crasher has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Perez darts in looking for a takedown but Crasher gets double underhooks and turns Perez into the cage.
Perez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Crasher walks away with a smile on his face. Perez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Crasher dives in and scores a takedown into Perez's guard.

Crasher avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Perez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crasher tries to free his leg and advance position but Perez is retaining full guard.
Crasher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Crasher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perez on the ground.
Perez is pulling down on Crasher's head to control his posture.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnny Crasher wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Perez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Crasher wants to control from the top but Perez keeps moving.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Perez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Crasher wants to pass the guard but Perez is keeping the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Perez is on top in guard.
Perez wants to stand but Crasher has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Perez has gone for a leg lock! Crasher slips out almost immediately though and dives into Perez's guard.
Perez looks winded!

Crasher is sitting in close to Perez's body. Perez has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Crasher is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Crasher is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Perez.
