Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fred Mcdaniel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Williams! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcdaniel was covering up waiting for the punch and Williams finishes the takedown easily into guard. Williams stays in close to Mcdaniel's body and controls the position. Mcdaniel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground. Williams trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mcdaniel's guard. Mcdaniel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Williams controlling from the top position. Mcdaniel controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Fred Mcdaniel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Williams clinches. Williams has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mcdaniel regains guard immediately. Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Williams looking to pass the guard. OK we're going to have a standup here. Trent Williams hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Williams lands with a straight right. Mcdaniel didn't see that one coming. Trent Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mcdaniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mcdaniel with a poor takedown and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Mcdaniel fights it but they end up in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Williams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Mcdaniel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mcdaniel looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Williams passes into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams advances to mount. Williams looking to finish Mcdaniel with some ground and pound. This is bad for Mcdaniel!
Mcdaniel is rocked! Williams working the ground and pound effectively.
Oh Mcdaniel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Williams controlling from mount. Williams postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Mcdaniel in real trouble here! The ref calls for Mcdaniel to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
