1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Larry Goodman! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goodman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Goodman stops Broderick from standing up. Broderick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goodman on the ground. Goodman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Goodman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Broderick dives on top into guard. Goodman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Broderick doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Broderick manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Broderick got a little sloppy there for a moment and Goodman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Broderick has managed to get both his arms back between Goodman's legs - danger averted. Goodman is looking for a triangle but Broderick pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Goodman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Broderick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Broderick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Broderick would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Broderick trying to control the position from guard on top but Goodman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Goodman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Broderick has his hands clasped together but Goodman extends and breaks Broderick's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Goodman.
