Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Shouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Worner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier Worner has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Joshua Shouse 's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Shouse ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavier Worner! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Worner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shouse tries to avoid it but Worner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shouse to the ground. Shouse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Shouse shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Worner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Worner will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Worner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shouse can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shouse passes into half guard. Worner is looking for a sweep. Shouse is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Worner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Shouse is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Worner has managed to free his arm - good work. Shouse stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shouse stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Worner to get to his feet. Worner throws a head kick that Shouse semi-blocks.
Worner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shouse avoids it really well and circles away. Worner with a lazy takedown attempt and Shouse counters with a three punch combo that has Worner backing up. Worner nods at Shouse to acknowledge the strikes. Joshua Shouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xavier Worner. Worner shoots and misses and Shouse counters with a two punch combo. Shouse gets a double leg takedown into Worner's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Worner being controlled here, momentarily. Shouse drops back looking for a leg! Worner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Worner manages to kick Shouse off! Shouse jumps back into Worner's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Worner has momentary wrist control but Shouse slips an elbow through the middle. Shouse is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Shouse preventing the sweep. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shouse accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Worner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Shouse 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Worner is trying to control the position but Shouse postures up. Shouse stands up and waves to Worner to follow him. Shouse dives in and scores a takedown into Worner's guard. Shouse is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Shouse wants to pass the guard but Worner is keeping the position. Worner wants to get back to his feet but Shouse is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shouse stays in close to Worner's body and controls the position. Worner is trying to control the position but Shouse postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Joshua Shouse wasn't doing enough on the ground. Shouse shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Worner is trying to control but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shouse perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Worner is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shouse 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shouse 's back! Worner misses with an elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joshua Shouse dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Shouse fails in his attempt to clinch. Shouse jabs at Worner's body. Worner throws the kick towards the body but Shouse avoids it. Shouse tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Worner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Worner doesn't succeed with the takedown and Shouse decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Worner's guard. Joshua Shouse overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shouse controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Shouse lands a couple of digs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shouse stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Worner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Worner throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Worner is looking to sweep but instead, Shouse has passed into half guard.
Shouse seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Shouse moves into full mount! Worner won't be happy about that! Worner wants to hold on but Shouse pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shouse looking to finish Worner with some ground and pound. This is bad for Worner! Shouse goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Worner turns into him and now he's in Shouse 's guard.
Worner preventing the sweep. Shouse knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Worner on the ground. Worner is looking to stand up but Shouse won't let him. Shouse scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Shouse looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Worner wants to improve his position but Shouse is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Worner is trying to control but can't.
Worner taking some punishment here, with Shouse in his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shouse blocks the strikes from Worner.
Worner wants to get back to full guard. Worner is looking to control Shouse 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Worner avoid being mounted? Shouse content to control rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Worner wants to control but Shouse is keeping busy and won't allow it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Joshua Shouse just wasn't active enough. Shouse avoids the head kick by Worner.
Worner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shouse tries to avoid it but Worner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shouse to the ground. Shouse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Shouse rushes Worner and presses him up against the cage. Shouse breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Worner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shouse throws a nice looking combination but Worner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shouse is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Worner's half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shouse is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joshua Shouse dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Worner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shouse decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Shouse is looking for a kimura but Worner is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shouse to get the leverage. Worner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Worner wants to control but Shouse is keeping busy and won't allow it. Shouse controlling the action here. Shouse seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Worner for as long as he can get away with.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joshua Shouse . Shouse stuffs the takedown attempt from Worner. Worner gets slowly back to his feet. Worner misses with a straight left. Worner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Shouse swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Worner misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Joshua Shouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xavier Worner. Shouse moves out of range of the body kick. Shouse throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Worner was covering up waiting for the punch and Shouse finishes the takedown easily into guard. Shouse is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shouse 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Worner with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Shouse can't handle though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Worner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shouse gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Shouse makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Shouse wants to pass the guard but Worner is keeping the position. Shouse has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shouse connects with a couple of short punches. Shouse won't allow Worner to sweep him here. Shouse slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Shouse scoring with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shouse content to stall in guard here. Worner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shouse is one step ahead there. Shouse looking to pass the guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Worner has momentary wrist control but Shouse slips an elbow through the middle. Xavier Worner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joshua Shouse is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Shouse working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Joshua Shouse showed his dominance in that final round. Well Shouse has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
