Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Bedford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Bedford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Brooks! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Bedford counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bedford breaks the clinch.
Brooks fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Brooks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bedford sprawls well. Bedford wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brooks gets slowly back to his feet. Johnny Bedford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Brooks. Bedford throws a push kick but Brooks slaps the foot to one side. Bedford drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Bedford wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brooks keeps working. Brooks tries to buck Bedford off but Bedford is having none of it. Brooks keeps trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brooks gets back to half guard. Bedford wants to pass the guard but Brooks is defending well. Brooks moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Brooks keeping moving, preventing Bedford from controlling successfully. Bedford knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brooks on the ground. Brooks looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bedford passes into side control.
Bedford tries to stand but Brooks is controlling his head. Brooks is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Brooks is not content to let Bedford control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bedford is really struggling to control Brooks but he's trying to hold on to the position. Brooks tries to bench press Bedford off him but Bedford keeps the position. Bedford is looking to take a break and control but Brooks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Brooks tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bedford presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Brooks is desperately trying to improve his position but Bedford has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bedford tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Bedford controlling from the full mount. Brooks is squirming around, avoiding Bedford's attempts to control the action. Brooks sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Brooks tries to get to full guard but Bedford has control of the leg. Brooks manages to get to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brooks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bedford is one step ahead there. Bedford slips nicely into half guard. Brooks is refusing to be controlled, as Bedford sits in half guard. Brooks wants to improve his position but Bedford is controlling well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bedford wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving. Bedford has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bedford is looking to stand up but Brooks won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Bedford will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Brooks with a lazy takedown attempt and Bedford counters with a big head kick but Brooks shrugs it off. Brooks slaps away a takedown attempt from Bedford, before circling back to the center of the mat. Brooks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bedford moves into the clinch. Bedford lands a knee to the body.
Bedford is trying to trip Brooks. He has hold of a leg but Brooks is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bedford persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Brooks wants to sweep but no luck. Brooks throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Brooks is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bedford rolls with it to try and escape but Brooks cranks on the arm and Bedford is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
