Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tad Whitney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kra Kano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tad Whitney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kra Kano! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whitney gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Kano fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Whitney changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kano fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kano shoots in and gets a takedown into Whitney's guard. Whitney wants to sweep but no luck. Kano is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Whitney is keeping the position for now. Kano throws a big elbow that misses. Whitney pulls Kano in to control the position. Kano wants to get up but he can't break Whitney's closed guard. Tad Whitney has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Kano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whitney tries to avoid it but Kano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whitney to the ground. Whitney escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kra Kano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kano throws a sloppy head kick and Whitney moves out of range easily. Kano with a poor takedown and Whitney holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Tad Whitney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kra Kano. Whitney wants a takedown.
Kano drags the fight down to the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whitney accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kano working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Whitney. Whitney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Whitney's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tad Whitney just wasn't active enough. Kano pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Whitney back to the cage. Kano follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Tad Whitney has been cut. Kano doesn't succeed with the takedown and Whitney counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Whitney. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee is keeping an eye on Whitney - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Whitney breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kano tries for a takedown but Whitney sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Whitney counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kano's guard now. Kano looks winded! Whitney is looking to stand up but Kano won't let him. Whitney is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tad Whitney wasn't doing enough on the ground. Whitney moves in looking to clinch but Kano pushes him off. Kano doesn't succeed with the takedown and Whitney counters with a head kick. Kano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Whitney counters by moving into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kano is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Whitney to keep the fight standing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kano darts in and clinches Whitney up against the cage. Kano is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Whitney gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Whitney tries to score a body lock takedown but Kano shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kano fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Whitney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tad Whitney overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Whitney seems content to control. Whitney sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kano defending well though. Whitney stalling. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Whitney looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Whitney is thwarting Kano's attempts to control the position. Whitney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitney trying to pass the guard but Kano defending well. Kano gets back to full guard.

Kano with a lazy takedown attempt and Whitney counters by clinching up. Whitney gets a trip takedown into half guard. Whitney looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kano tries to roll over but Whitney keeps him under control. Kano wants to control but Whitney is keeping busy.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kano throws a half hearted mid kick. Kano with a lazy takedown attempt and Whitney holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kano takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Whitney as Kano tries to tie him up. Whitney prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Whitney sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kano is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Whitney decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kano to his feet. Whitney tries to clinch up but Kano circles away and keeps his distance. Kano has his takedown stuffed and Whitney counters with a takedown into side control. Whitney staying calm. Whitney cracks Kano with a big right hand but Kano just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whitney is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Whitney creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Whitney happy to just control the position for now. Whitney sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kano is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whitney creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Kra Kano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tad Whitney is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A lull in the action here as Whitney stalls from top position.
And that's the end of the fight! Tad Whitney showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Whitney, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
