PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kent Kirkland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Inglis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Matt Inglis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kent Kirkland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Inglis!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inglis throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kirkland stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A clash of legs there as Kirkland blocks the low kick.
Inglis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Inglis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Inglis cracks a nice hook into Kirkland's ribs.
Matt Inglis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Inglis ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Kirkland is breathing heavily.
Some wild striking there from Inglis.
Inglis throws a right and a left that Kirkland avoids nicely.

Inglis closes the distance and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Inglis dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Inglis misses with a short punch on the inside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kirkland keeps control of Inglis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Inglis swings wildly with an uppercut but Kirkland uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kirkland.
With the fighters up against the cage, Inglis throws an elbow but misses.
Inglis is trying to maintain a safe position but Kirkland gets an underhook and turns Inglis into the cage.
Kirkland on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Inglis fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Inglis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kirkland looking for a takedown.
Kirkland tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Inglis smiles and moves away.
Inglis tries to land a leg kick but Kirkland saw it coming and moves away.

Inglis gets a takedown into half guard.
Kirkland is looking for a sweep. Inglis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Inglis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kirkland's head.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kirkland manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kirkland has a closed guard, preventing Inglis from standing up.

Inglis sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Kirkland doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Inglis paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Kirkland - great work!
