PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liam Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon Bairstow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Devon Bairstow was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam Colt!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Devon Bairstow!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colt fails with the takedown.
Devon Bairstow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Colt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bairstow is fending him off so far but Colt persists. Nope, Bairstow circles away and we're back to standing.

Bairstow drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Bairstow politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bairstow prefers to stall for the moment though.
Colt is trying to work for a sweep but Bairstow has mounted him!
Colt can't escape the position.
Bairstow controlling the pace for now.
Colt is looking to get to half guard.
Colt squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bairstow controlling the pace for now.
Colt is desperately trying to improve his position but Bairstow has a good base and remains in mount.
Bairstow takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Colt tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bairstow controlling from mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Despite being in the dominant position, Devon Bairstow just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bairstow lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Colt is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bairstow lands with a right hand.


It looks like Liam Colt has been cut.
Colt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bairstow is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Colt flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Colt is out cold! Bairstow holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Devon Bairstow!
